Discover The Top Rogue Races in Baldur’s Gate 3

-

The Rogue class centers around mobility and stealth, and when selecting races in Baldur’s Gate 3, choosing those that complement these traits is advantageous. For the Rogue class, priority is given to additional Dexterity to enhance speed, Intelligence for improved saving throws, and racial attributes/bonuses that align with the desired play style.

Deep Dwarves offer favorable stats conducive to a stealthy playstyle. Both Lightfoot Halflings and Drows provide +2 points, enhancing mobility-based builds. On the other hand, High Elves exhibit proficiency with bows, making them a suitable choice for those opting for a ranged rogue subclass.

Fleet-footed halfling

The Lightfoot Halfling stands out as the optimal race for rogues in BG3, particularly for players who favor a stealthy playstyle. Lightfoot halflings possess a natural aptitude for stealth thanks to their inherent trait.

This race also boasts a high base speed, matching that of all races, and a +2 Dexterity bonus, enhancing the movement speed of the Rogue class in BG3. However, unlike other rogue races in Baldur’s Gate 3, Lightfoot Halflings lack darkvision. Despite this, the additional benefits they offer make it a worthwhile trade-off.

Deep gnome

This race is known for its stealthy playstyle, leveraging stone camouflage. Additionally, they possess darkvision, allowing them to see the farthest in the game (approximately 24 meters), making them highly effective in dark environments.

In addition to these traits, this race embodies the distinctive features of the Gnome race, referred to as the “Gnome Cunning.” Gnomes provide Rogues in BG3 with additional boosts to Wisdom, Intelligence, and Charisma.

Drow

This race possesses Superior Darkvision and a natural proficiency with crossbows. Drow are also immune to magic and spells that induce sleep. In addition to these bonuses, we chose this race for the Rogue class due to its +2 Dexterity stats.

Upon reaching level 5, Drow characters gain access to a spell called Darkness in Baldur’s Gate 3. This spell creates a dark cloud that blinds any enemies caught within it.

High Elves

This race excels in bow skills and presents a favorable stat distribution for the Rogue class in BG3, making it particularly well-suited for the Rogue’s ranged subclasses.

High Elves offer +2 Dexterity and +1 Intelligence, coupled with proficiency in certain weapons. Additionally, they possess darkvision, although its range is not as extensive as that of Deep Gnomes and Drows.
